Continuing the Conversation, Gathering and Talk

This meeting is about making connections and building a better community.  Thrive is hosting a series of conversations with members of the greater San Mateo County community to explore the power of connectivity, collaboration and community building. We start with a potluck.  Please bring something to eat or drink to share. 

Some of the questions we may delve into:

• How do we come together to deal with the worst economic decline of most of our lifetimes?  Are there things that influence your client’s well-being that is beyond your organization’s control?  How might your organization leverage collaboration to expand its impact.  What are the barriers?
• Do you know your neighbors?  Why or why not?  Who do you consider a neighbor?  What have you gained by getting to know them?  What defines quality of life?  How can you contribute to your neighbor’s quality of life (and vice-versa)?
• Our educational institutions are suffering.  For a community that supports itself through technical innovation, allowing our educational institutions to languish seems self-defeating.  What can we do to help?
• You already work for a nonprofit organization?  What does it mean to give back?
• What comprises our community’s "safety net"?  Is it just our nonprofit and government services?  What role do personal relationships play?  What can be done to support both? 
• What is an individual’s obligation to his or her community?  Do you give?  What forms does it take? 

The gathering will be held at the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits – Redwood Shores, in the café / patio area located at 350 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, 94065.
