September 25 and October 2 – Special Workshop by CompassPoint and Thrive
Two Consecutive Thursdays - “Difficult Decisions: A Process to Sort Your Services - Keep, Change, Discontinue, or Give Away.”  There is a $75 discount for all Thrive members.  Click HEREfor more details.You can bring your whole management team, board members and other staff to this two-day program.  A light breakfast will be provided. Tuesday, September 30, noon to 1:00 p.m. - 403(b) FREE Lunch and Learn Seminar
In the Borel Estate Building, 1st Floor Conference Room, across from SVCF on El Camino Real.
The IRS has issued comprehensive new and final regulations for 403(b) retirement plans for all non-profit organizations. Your plan must be in compliance by January 1st, 2009. It can take up to 60-90 days to get the proper solution in place, so you need to start now. This FREE meeting will give you all the information you need. An afternoon of food, games, live jazz music, and campus tours.  Attendance is free and we welcome community members, students, staff, donors, and anyone who wants to learn about our programs and services, help celebrate our success and enjoy a day of fun, food and friends! Saturday, October 4, 10 a.m. Registration at 8:30 a.m. Breath of Life Walk
West of the Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This event is FREE. If you want to help the 850,000 people in the Bay Area afflicted by lung disease, here’s your chance.  Join Breathe California at the Breath of Life Walk in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park on Saturday, October 4th.  This is a walk that the whole family can enjoy.  Walk--or sponsor a walker--to help improve care and find a cure for lung disease!!  For information about the Breath of Life Walk, go to www.BreathofLifeWalk.org or call 1-877-3BREATHE.

Tuesday, October 7, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Meet the Grantmakers: Focus on Funding in San Mateo County. At the San Mateo Public Library. The Foundation Center brings its popular "Meet the Grantmaker" series to San Mateo County for a close-up look at funding in the region. Panelists will describe their organizations' funding programs and guidelines as they pertain to the South Bay, as well as provide “insider tips” for making a compelling case for your funding request. Please note that preceding the Meet the Grantmaker panel, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., there will be a presentation on “How to Approach a Foundation: From Initial Contact to Getting Funded - What Does It Take?" Sponsored by Community Gatepath, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott. This event will highlight the accomplishments of adult participants, community partners and volunteersProceeds from the event benefits children and adults with disabilities, and our education awareness programs offered free to schools. Meetings on options to relieve jail overcrowding, improve incarceration programs to decrease recidivism and meet projected needs in the men's and women's facilities.

Saturday, October 18 - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nonprofit Boot Camp
San Mateo County Event Center, 2495 S. Delaware Street , San Mateo, CA 94403.  Join Craigslist Foundation for a day of knowledge, resources and networking, all focused on how to start and run a vibrant nonprofit. Nonprofit Boot Camp is designed to educate and empower the next generation of nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs, connecting them with valuable industry resources, peers and potential supporters.
