The Fatherhood Collaborative is pleased to be hosting its 13th Annual Dad & Me @ the Park event on June 20, 2015, 11 AM to 3 PM, at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo. This year’s event will be focused on the theme Healthy Kids, Healthy Families and is held during a time of year specially dedicated to dads – Father’s Day weekend!
Dad & Me @ the Park: Healthy Kids, Healthy Families is a fun, free, outdoor educational and resource fair that engages hundreds of children, fathers and families from all throughout San Mateo County. Local businesses and community partners join us onsite to promote information and activities focused on health and physical movement while being entertaining and engaging for children. An average of 600 individuals attend the event and there are usually 25 – 30 onsite booths. Some of the organizations that have participated in past years include: First 5 California, Soccer Shots, CalFresh, Daddy’s Tool Bag, UC Coop Extension Nutrition, Bookmobile, Second Harvest Food Bank, San Mateo Credit Union, American Medical Response and Safe Moves, Safe Routes to School – Bike Safety and Repairs.
For this year’s event, we are working to develop a nutritionist-approved menu for the free barbeque lunch which will be provided to participants. We want to demonstrate how delicious healthy eating can be! The event also recognizes three individuals, organizations and/or corporations who are working to positively impact children and/or communities through the presentation of the Fatherhood and Community Caring Awards by local leaders such as Senator Jerry Hill and Supervisor Dave Pine.
