Cyber Threats and Ransomware Target Nonprofits: What you Can Do to Protect your Organization

Last week, Thrive, together with Social Impact Advisory Group, hosted a special luncheon and expert panel discussion "Cyber Threats and Ransomware Target Nonprofits: What You Can Do to Protect Your Organization."

Our expert panel included local cybersecurity experts and nonprofit leaders:

  • Bryan Neider, CEO, Gatepath

  • Alex Rayter, Principal, Phoenix 2.0

  • Cecilia Angat, Partner, Squar Milne

  • Moderator: Maya Tussing, Principal, Alesco Advisors

For those who missed this event, we compiled a short lists of preventive measures that can help keep your data secure:

  • Keep your systems protected by regularly updating your software

  • Do not share your passwords with anyone

  • Go over Cybersecurity Framework with your board and leadership

  • Encourage your team to report any suspicious emails and be attentive to potential cyber threats

  • Implement short educational recurring training for your employees

  • Consider protecting your organization with cyber liability insurance.
