Educational Data Analyst - San Mateo County Office of Education

In this role, you will contribute your expertise and data skills to a high-profile initiative and, in so doing, help advance knowledge and practice in the field of early learning.

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Early Learning Quality Improvement Initiatives, the Data Analyst will research, collect, analyze, prepare, process, interpret and report preschool to third grade data for partner schools, initiatives and programs in San Mateo County, California:


Essential Job Functions:

  • Train partner programs in the use of a centralized data system. Monitor partner use of the data system to ensure required data are entered.

  • Develop and execute early learning data collection strategies with support and guidance from the Coordinator. Provide technical support to schools and partner agency administrators, kindergarten teachers, directors and coordinators in the planning and execution of data collection strategies.

  • Coordinate countywide child assessment activities, ensuring data are collected by schools and partner programs as required by specific initiatives.

  • Receive extracts from schools and partner programs of education related data, clean data, recode and merge with other data sets to address the data needs of County Office of Education initiatives.

  • Prepare data sets for use by third party evaluators (e.g., clean, recode, merge, etc).

  • Regularly analyze data in order to monitor and assess education project implementation.

  • Apply research methodology (e.g., design, extraction, organization, collection, configuration, analysis) to analyze the impact of education initiatives as requested by the County Office, school districts and partner agencies. Develop both written and graphical analyses of data.

  • Populate data dashboards for schools and partner programs in order to promote the meaningful use of data in the community. 

  • Serve as a technical resource on education related data and respond to inquiries for reports and data.

This position is part-time, or 60%.  The salary on CalOpps is already prorated for 60%.
