EPAK – Grants Manager

The Grants Manager is responsible for institutional fundraising for EPAK. Institutional funders: public foundations, community-based funders, private, corporate foundations, family foundations, major individual donors.

East Palo Alto Kids Foundation (EPAK) is a community-based, all-volunteer organization promoting educational opportunities and academic success for students in the classrooms of East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. We provide micro grants to educators for materials and activities which are important to supporting students’ knowledge acquisition, but which would not otherwise be available to children living within the community we serve.

Essential Job Functions:

Fundraising planning:

  • Work with Fundraising Chair to develop annual fundraising plan and provide monthly status updates.

  • Track funding cycles and notify Fundraising Committee of changes in eligibility.

  • Prepare and manage annual grants calendar around application deadlines.

Institutional Fundraising:

  • Prepare and submit EPAK applications to institutional funders.

  • Prepare and submit required post-grant reporting.

  • Request from Board needed financial and other documents to support the application or post-grant submissions.

Other Fundraising:

  • Work with Fundraising Chair on year-end direct solicitations to selected major donors.

  • Research potential new funding sources, work with Fundraising Chair to develop strategies for each.

Other duties:

  • Provide information to Board committees, as requested, for use in newsletters and Annual Report.

  • Attend monthly Board meetings, as needed, to update status of funds.

The Grants Manager will further support projects or tasks that support programs for EPAK as requested and as needed by the Board, or as deemed necessary to complete applications and post-grant submissions.


  • Familiarity with, and commitment to, EPAK's mission and programs.

  • Excellent writing and verbal skills to effectively articulate EPAK's mission and programs.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy and organization.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively to meet deadlines.
