HIP Housing – Development Associate

The Development Associate is responsible for providing general support for all fund development activities. This is a temporary position working 15-18 hours a week. Flexibility in schedule provided. The selected candidate will start working in December 2018 and will need to commit to this job until May 15, 2019.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform database entry of gifts, process thank you letters promptly (within 72 hours of receipt), and make necessary edits and clean-up.

  • Research and assist with writing foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals and reports as needed.

  • Maintain and update fundraising database

  • Assist with fundraising events and mailings as needed.

  • Assist with production of the Holiday Store, including corporate solicitations, volunteer coordination, and decoration of the store.

  • Assist with donor cultivation events like the Self Sufficiency client graduation, etc.

  • Attend development team check-in meetings, event committee meetings, etc.

  • Organize Development Committee meetings monthly or once every two months.

  • Conduct monthly gift reconciliation with Accounting Department / QuickBooks.

  • Update HIP Housing Dashboard.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work efficiently

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Superb knowledge of Windows applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

  • Ability to learn new computer systems quickly and trouble shoot issues

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Flexibility and good interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

  • Physically able to perform tasks that require repetitive motions for long periods of time sitting or standing

  • Preferably have driver’s license and vehicle

Reports to:

Development Director / Special Events Director / Grant Writer

Salary and Benefits:     

$15-20 per hour, depending on experience. No benefits package included.
