PCRC – Initiative Manager

PCRC is a communication and dispute resolution nonprofit organization serving San Mateo County for over 30 years. We are a dynamic organization, with a team of 25-30 highly skilled staff, and over 150 dedicated volunteers. We partner with individuals, groups and institutions to empower people, build relationships, and reduce violence through collaborative and innovative processes. We assist clients in solving their most complex personal, organizational, and social challenges by utilizing strategies in mediation, facilitation, training and coaching. We rely on our organizational principles of inclusivity, congruency, collaboration, communication and respect to positively impact communities throughout the county.

Position Summary:

The Manager is responsible for planning and administering Initiative-based program services for youth, families, communities, and institutions throughout San Mateo County. This innovative and energetic leader provides program oversight, team supervision, and coaching to an amazing team of talented professionals serving our target population through training, facilitation support, meditative processes, coaching and resources and referrals. PCRC serves approximately 14,000 – 16,000 individuals in San Mateo County on an annual basis. In addition, the Manager will support the Managing Director to manage programming budgets of approximately $1.2 million dollars.

Responsibilities:

Supervision

  • Supervise assigned highly knowledgeable and highly skilled staff;

  • Co-create and implement a team professional development plans.

  • Perform employee reviews at midway and end points of the fiscal year (Dec, Jun);

  • Work closely with the Managing Director to improve individual and team performance

Program Oversight and Implementation

  • Ensure congruence with PCRC’s mission, vision, values and business plan

  • Manage program income and expenses;

  • Ensure that all Initiative deliverables are of high quality and are completed in a timely manner;

  • Manage relationship and communication with partners. Designing, negotiating, managing contracts and deliverables;

  • Provide facilitation and training support for community dialogues, coalition meetings and other project meetings;

  • Lead the collection and preparation of the Initiative’s program data, evaluations, reports and outreach materials;

  • Respond to requests for information and consultation on community issues;

  • Act as a program representative at events and meetings, as needed.

Initiative Leadership:

  • Work along with the Managing Director to develop plans for assessing community needs and strategize to design and implement programs and services to attend those needs;

  • Mediate, facilitate, and train as needed by the agency, as needed;

  • Other duties may be assigned and prioritized in conversation with the Managing Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and minimum of three years work experience in project management in related field

  • Content expertise in any one of the following: Community Engagement, Public Participation, Dialogue and Deliberation, Violence Prevention, Education, Youth Development, etc.

  • Proven ability to supervise multi-disciplinary program teams

  • Experience managing partnerships with community-based organizations and/or law enforcement

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Training in facilitation and 40-hour basic mediation or equivalent. * If not trained at time of hire PCRC will provide the trainings to be completed outside of work hours as a term of employment

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficient in basic computer uses including data management, reporting, and design of basic outreach materials

  • Successful past experience in non-profit or community service organizations

  • Experience managing complex budgets, subcontractors, reporting, and grant writing

  • Ability to manage flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends

  • Ability to plan, initiate, and execute program activities in a timely manner

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with 1) partners from community, non-profit, business, and government sectors, 2) various levels of an organization, and 3) socio-economically diverse populations

  • Knowledge of San Mateo County is desirable

  • Ability to remain neutral and professional in emotionally charged situations

  • Willingness to promote the integrity and professionalism of PCRC

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance

  • Completion of background check and fingerprinting

Benefits/Compensation:

Starting Salary $52,000 – $64,000 FTE. This is an exempt position offering a competitive salary and a compensation package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, 403(B) plan, vacation, and holidays.
