Ravenswood Family Health Center – Health Program Planner/Grant Writer

Ravenswood Family Health Center’s (RFHC) Health Program Planner/Grant Writer will be responsible for developing, planning, writing, and packaging grant applications and grant reports for a variety of health care programs, strengthening resources and funding for RFHC’s health care programs, and increasing awareness about the organization and its work among patients, partners, and funders.

Ravenswood Family Health Center serves a diverse and constantly changing population of low-income families and uninsured residents in south San Mateo County.  Our service area includes East Palo Alto, Belle Haven in Menlo Park, North Fair Oaks in Redwood City. Over one third of the residents were born outside the U.S; the majority come from Mexico, Central America and the Pacific Islands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in public health, city and regional/urban planning, public policy, social work, health care administration, business or public administration, or related field highly desired 

  • Minimum of two to three years of writing grant proposals and reports independently required 

  • Demonstrated ability to write independently and organize and present information clearly and concisely

  • Knowledge of data collection and research techniques

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, while also being a team player

  • Demonstrated ability to independently determine priorities, juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work closely with the Director of Development, Planning & Evaluation to develop, plan, write, and package grant proposals (narrative, budgets, logic models, scopes of work, etc.) for new and existing health care programs. This includes meeting with/interviewing RFHC’s directors, managers, and staff; partner organizations; and other stakeholders involved in the programs.

  2. Regularly check-in with key persons involved in funded health care programs to help monitor alignment of project progress, deliverables, and timeline.

  3. Develop and write reports for funded health care programs, including meeting with/interviewing RFHC’s directors, managers, and staff regarding progress of grant funded projects and working with RFHC’s data department to generate data for reports.

  4. Collect and analyze data and conduct research to create needs assessments for health care programs.

  5. Identify funding opportunities for health care programs via internet research and document reviews.

  6. Help develop written content for annual reports, print newsletters, press releases, brochures, marketing collateral, presentations, and handouts for a broad range of internal (staff, board members, etc.) and external (funders, donors, patients, news media, public officials, etc.) audiences.

  7. Provide responsive, professional customer service to funders, donors, members of the press, public officials, partner organizations, etc., including satisfying requests for information and scheduling meetings.
