Networking Extravaganza

Last Thursday, we convened over eighty nonprofit, business, philanthropic, and civic leaders at Thrive's annual Networking Extravaganza. It was a great morning of dialogue, learning, and networking featuring our guests from LinkedIn and Samai Group. From the beginning, the energy in the room was positive and productive – all thanks to our attendees’ participation and engagement. Over a shared breakfast, we discussed the importance of closing the network gap, explored creative strategies and tools that can help close cross-sector and cross-functional divides, and engaged attendees in lively discussions and interactive networking activities.

Our special guest speaker, Jordan Medina, Social Impact Partnerships Manager of LinkedIn, talked about effective strategies and useful tools that can help close the network gap. Through his work at LinkedIn, Jordan strives to democratize access to professional networks and economic opportunities so those born into poverty can achieve economic mobility.

The second portion of the event was dedicated to Networking Group Activities & Resource Sharing, facilitated by Ei Ei Samai of Samai Group. Ei Ei introduced short and interactive exercises to help explore network assets and gaps amongst the attendees.

If you are interested in learning more about the network gap and the importance of closing it, you can explore these resources recommended by our facilitator:

More Opportunities

We will be prototyping a hiring managers peer learning group as a result of this session. Stay tuned for this and other next steps that will be debuted at our 3rd annual Nonprofit Career Summit & Job Fair on Tueday, November 5, at the Sobrato Center for Nonprofit – Redwood Shores.
