On September 4, 2020 Governor Newsom signed AB 2257 into immediate effect which substantially revises and clarifies AB5, California’s independent contractor law. AB 2257 exempts some musicians, performing artists and fine artists from the “ABC” test, AB5's stricter independent contractor test. Where does this leave your organization and your artists? California Civic Engagement Project at USC's Sol Price School of Public Policy has published its report Examining San Mateo County’s Adoption of the California Voter’s Choice Act. At this meeting, we will be discussing the results of the study so that it can inform outreach strategies for March 2020. Please review the study in advance.

The Bay Area Equity Atlas is a first-of-its-kind data and policy tool to track the state of equity across the region and drive solutions for inclusive prosperity. During this session, Sarah Treuhaft, who is a Managing Director at PolicyLink and the project lead for the Bay Area Equity Atlas, will share an overview of the Atlas, how people are using it, and how it can support San Mateo County community leaders in advancing equity.

Thrive and the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits will bring together safety net agencies of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties for a special convening to discuss how to strengthen the work in emergency assistance and safety net services and broaden the understanding of regional issues that affect vulnerable and underserved populations.
