Safety Net Convening: Strengthening San Mateo & Santa Clara Counties

Thrive, The Alliance of Nonprofits for San Mateo County and the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits will bring together safety net agencies of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties for a special convening to discuss how to strengthen the work in emergency assistance and safety net services and broaden the understanding of regional issues that affect vulnerable and underserved populations. Join us on Thursday, November 8 at the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits, San Jose.

There will be plenty of opportunities to connect and network with nonprofit and community leaders, learn from each other, and discuss best practices, advocacy strategies, housing efforts, challenges, and successes.

This is the second of two convenings where Thrive's Basic Needs & Safety Net group will meet with members of SVCN's Emergency Assistance Network group.

Free admission. Lunch will be provided. Advance registration is required.

Who Should Attend?

  • Members of Basic Needs & Safety Net Thrive Action Group (TAG)

  • Members of SVCN's Emergency Assistance Network (EAN)

  • Leaders and advocates of institutions across all sectors that provide the most basic necessities for life: housing and shelter; food; clothing; healthcare; welfare; unemployment benefits; emergency assistance.

This special convening was made possible thanks to a Silicon Valley Community Foundation grant. It created an opportunity for Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) and Thrive, The Alliance of Nonprofits for San Mateo County to work closely together to determine regional safety net needs, potential next steps, and policy avenues that may benefit both counties.
