Translation Hub

Thrive Alliance is proud to advance the Translation Services Hub, a shared language-access infrastructure that strengthens nonprofit capacity across San Mateo County. With support from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF), this pilot expands access to professional interpretation. It also increases translation services for nonprofits serving multilingual populations. Language access is essential. It ensures equitable community engagement, civic participation, and service delivery. The Translation Services Hub helps nonprofits use consistent, culturally responsive language in programs, meetings, and outreach efforts.

This initiative builds on sector conversations about sustainability and shared services. Thrive’s research and work with nonprofit leaders show organizations want collaborative infrastructure. This reduces administrative burden while increasing impact.

Beyond service coordination, the Hub focuses on long-term ecosystem building. Thrive is growing a network of vetted interpreters. It is also creating clearer pathways for bilingual community members to build professional skills. The Hub elevates language access as a sector standard.

An Advisory Committee of nonprofit executive leaders guided the pilot to ensure it reflects community needs and organizational realities. San Mateo County representatives include Georgia Farooq of Thrive Alliance; Rita Mancera of Puente de la Costa Sur; Malissa Netane-Jones of the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center; and Miriam Yupanqui of Nuestra Casa. Thrive Alliance makes language access a shared investment in equity, capacity, and community leadership.
