Environment & Sustainability TAG
Thrive is excited to partner with Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) and invite you to our monthly Environment & Sustainability Thrive Action Group (TAG).
This meeting is an opportunity for San Mateo County organizations and community members with a focus on environment and sustainability to convene, share priorities, identify gaps, and plan future collective action.
Topic: How is the County preparing for the changing climate?
Climate change is here. Rising temperatures and heat waves, extreme storms, sea level rise and flooding, and the recent wildfires and air quality emergencies brought home the urgency and need for all of us to prepare, prevent, plan and adapt to protect ourselves, our communities and our environment. Learn about one such effort at our next meeting.
County of San Mateo Office of Sustainability staff will join us to discuss the Climate Ready SMC Collaborative being launched in 2019. The effort will bring together cities, non-profits, special districts, businesses, and key community and stakeholder groups to foster information sharing, learning, coordination and collectively find solutions to make San Mateo County climate ready. The collaborative will bring together local knowledge with expert analysis on current and future climate impacts (heat, wildfires, sea level rise, precipitation, and severe storm events). Members will contribute to development of community engagement approaches, pilot adaptation planning projects, an adaptation toolkit for local cities and communities, and prioritization of climate adaptation strategies and solutions.
Registration is requested.
Next meetings: Feb 20, Mar 20.
