Thrive RISE: Issue Area Committees

In 2025, Thrive RISE launched four issue-specific working groups to support disaster planning and risk reduction initiatives in the areas of children and childcare; older adults and Access and Functional Needs (AFN); mental health and spiritual care; and food security. Thank you to Sequoia Healthcare District and Peninsula Health Care District for supporting this initiative to expand the work of the COAD.

Committees meet on a monthly basis, and are meant to serve as a forum for organizations working in the same issue areas. With the leadership of the committee co-chairs, members can define the biggest risks to their clients and work in the context of disaster, and develop strategies for collectively reducing that risk through planning, information sharing, projects, or public education.

Nonprofits, congregations, community organizations, and agencies with expertise or interest in these issue areas are encouraged to join these committees. To learn more about the issue area committees, please email betty@thrivealliance.org.
