The City of San Mateo is currently seeking new Commissioners and Board Members, offering an invaluable opportunity to engage in local governance and serve the community. Meetings typically occur once a month, requiring additional preparation time, and members must attend a mandatory orientation and any available training, including Ethics Training. Term Length & Limits

Time Commitment
Commissions meeting with different frequencies, but typically once a month. Additional time is required to prepare for each meeting.

*Youth Commissioners
Youth Commissioners (not to be confused with the City's Youth Activities Council or County of San Mateo Youth Commission) are non-voting, ex officio representatives appointed to advise on Boards or Commissions. To qualify, Youth Commissioners must be between 13 and 17 years old and must live or study in the City of San Mateo.
