Since December 2, 1947, Peninsula Health Care District (PHCD) has been dedicated to meeting the health needs of the local community. Governed by a publicly elected 5-member board of directors, what began as the responsibility of building, owning, and overseeing Peninsula Hospital has evolved into a broader mission of offering health-focused programs and services that empower residents to achieve their optimal health. For over seventy years, PHCD has proudly stood as a trusted partner in the community’s well-being.

 

PHCD serves residents in San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, half of Foster City, and the southeast corner of South San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Developing the strategic framework for the four focus areas as described in the District’s strategic plan in collaboration with CEO and corresponding program leads.

  • Researching and evaluating health trends through quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis to inform the enhancement of existing programs and the development of new programs aligned with the District’s strategic impact priorities.

  • Overseeing the implementation of the District’s strategic plan by meeting with staff to evaluate progress, making recommendations, and providing written quarterly reports.

  • Administering the Peninsula Health Care District Community Health Investment Portfolio—including the Community Grants Program, Research and Development, Special Funding Initiatives, and Impact Partners—managing respective budgets in collaboration with the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors.

  • Leading community outreach strategic initiatives, including education campaigns, vaccination programs, health screenings, town halls, and other health events in collaboration with the CEO.

  • Coordinating the Community Health Investment and Strategic Direction Committees.

  • Participating in community wide health collaboratives, partnership building organizations, and in outreach activities, to include

    • Representing PHCD on committees, as well as developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key community stakeholders.

    • Representing the CEO at community events as needed, ensuring consistent and professional engagement.

    • Planning and carrying out Special Projects in collaboration with the PHCD team.

    • Convening community and stakeholder advisory groups related to project planning and implementation.

    • Participating in the Association of California Healthcare District activities, community organizations, on advisory boards/committees or other groups as appropriate.

    • Making presentations to civic, non-profit, and public sector groups.

  • Developing and implementing the District’s communications strategic plan to enhance the visibility and reputation of the District in collaboration with the CEO.

  • And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Masters preferred in healthcare, public administration, community non-profit leadership or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in such fields, preferably in San Mateo County.

  • Proven track record of engagement with local communities and evidence of productive relationship building with colleagues and community leaders.

  • Creative and brings an entrepreneurial approach to the work.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position (40hrs/week). Yearly compensation range of: $150K - $175K/yr. DOE. In addition, Peninsula Health Care District benefits include: CalPers Pension, CalPers Health, Delta Dental Plan, VSP Vision Plan and Life Insurance as well as 13 paid holidays during the year. Accrued PTO- (eligible for up to 13 days in the first year of employment).
