AgeUp offers a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older adults through our Friendly Visitor program. If you or someone you know appreciates good conversation, companionship, and a warm smile, this program is designed to brighten their day. Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, playing cards, or simply engaging in heartfelt chats, our dedicated volunteers are eager to bring connection and kindness right to your doorstep. Joining is completely free, flexible to fit your schedule, and helps foster lasting friendships while making individuals feel more valued and connected in their communities.

AgeUp leads the charge for dignity, justice, and well-being for older adults and people with disabilities. Built on the trusted foundation of Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County, we’ve expanded our mission — protecting residents’ rights while creating new pathways for education, support, and community connection.
Responsibilities
Engage in friendly and meaningful conversations with older adults.
Provide companionship through activities such as playing games, reading, or sharing stories.
Ensure regular and consistent visits to build trust and rapport.
Adapt to the interests and needs of the individual being visited.
Maintain a positive and respectful attitude at all times.
Report any concerns or issues regarding the well-being of the senior to program coordinators.
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the older adult.
Qualifications
Be at least 18 years of age
Background Clearance
Commit to at least 2 hours/month of volunteering
