NAMI San Mateo County: Events & Fundraising Data Coordinator

NAMI San Mateo County is seeking an Events & Fundraising Data Coordinator. The Events & Fundraising Data Coordinator is a part-time role responsible for leading the planning and execution of community fundraising events, most notably NAMIWalks San Mateo County, while also supporting data-driven fundraising strategy through donor analysis and reporting. This position begins at 10–15 hours per week and ramps up to 40 hours per week in the weeks immediately preceding the NAMIWalks event on October 3, 2026. The coordinator works closely with the Executive Director and staff to advance NAMI SMC’s mission of supporting individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.

About NAMI San Mateo County:

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) San Mateo County (SMC), was founded in 1974 as the Parents of Adult Schizophrenics.  The organization was subsequently renamed the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of San Mateo County, until its reformation in 1979 as the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI SMC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) exempt organization governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of family members who have a loved one with a mental illness and other interested parties involved in the local mental health community. As an independently operating nonprofit, NAMI San Mateo County receives no funding from NAMI National nor NAMI California.

Responsibilities

Events & Fundraising

  • Serve as the lead organizer for NAMIWalks San Mateo County (October 3, 2026), managing all aspects of planning, logistics, volunteer coordination, and walk team fundraising efforts from kickoff through event day and post-event wrap-up

  • Coordinate the annual Volunteer & Staff Appreciation Event, including program development, recognition planning, and event execution

  • Oversee the bi-monthly Speaker Series, handling speaker recruitment, promotional materials, and event logistics

  • Lead or support seasonal fundraising initiatives such as End of Year Giving campaigns, working closely with the Executive Director and staff to engage donors and community members

  • Develop event timelines, project plans, and run-of-show documents to ensure smooth execution

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with volunteers and community partners

Fundraising Data & Donor Analytics

  • Run and organize donor reports in the Databank CRM system to identify current donors, lapsed donors, and giving patterns and in Donor Drive to manage NAMIWalks donations, teams and walk participants

  • Produce data sets that support donor cultivation, major giving strategies, and retention initiatives

  • Analyze donor giving history to identify opportunities for increased giving levels and portfolio growth

  • Assist with donor segmentation for annual giving campaigns, quarterly giving initiatives, and event-specific fundraising

  • Support the conversion of event-based donors into consistent annual donors through targeted data reporting and outreach recommendations

  • Identify employer-matching opportunities that can multiply donor contributions, with particular focus on Giving Tuesday and the NAMIWalks campaign

  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of all donor records in accordance with organizational policies

  • Generate regular reports for leadership to inform development strategy and decision-making

Communications Support

  • Assist with event-related communications including promotional emails, social media content, and community outreach

  • Contribute event and fundraising content to NAMI SMC’s Tuesday Newsday e-newsletter

  • Support updates to the NAMI SMC website for event pages, registration links, and fundraising campaign information

General & Administrative

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with staff and volunteers to support organizational events and goals

  • Participate in relevant community partner meetings and initiatives as needed

  • Provide general administrative support for event-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

Required

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit program coordination

  • Comfort working with data, spreadsheets, or donor management/CRM platforms (Databank and Donor Drive experience is a plus; training provided)

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to increase availability to up to 40 hours per week during the NAMIWalks event ramp-up period

  • Self-directed, collaborative, and mission-driven approach to work

Preferred

  • Experience with NAMIWalks or similar peer-to-peer fundraising events

  • Familiarity with donor segmentation, giving analysis, or nonprofit development strategy

  • Experience with website CMS platforms and email marketing tools

  • Passion for mental health advocacy and community engagement

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $28.00 per hour

  • Meal and rest break requirements will be provided in accordance with California Labor Code
