Join us for Budget Justice 101: A Foundation for Advocacy in San Mateo County on Tuesday, July 28, 1:00-2:30 pm. This workshop is designed for community members, nonprofit staff, and advocates looking to strengthen their voice and influence how San Mateo County spends public dollars. No prior budget or policy experience needed.

We'll cover the essential concepts for budget justice work and answer questions like:

• What is budget justice? What does advocacy look like in other counties?

• County budget basics: Where does the money come from? What's restricted or unrestricted? Where is there flexibility? How does the budget process and decision-making actually work?

You'll also gain:

• An overview of HR 1's impact on current and future budgets, including Medi-Cal and SNAP cuts, and CalAIM's reforms to Medi-Cal

• Insights on Measure K and how the Vehicle License Fee affects this year's county budget
