Healthy Democracy
Healthy Democracy strengthens civic participation and ensures nonprofits and communities have the tools to engage in a healthy, inclusive democracy. Through the Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee (VEOAC), we guide nonprofit-led voter education and outreach efforts that center equity and language access. Our nonpartisan election education initiatives help nonprofits and community members understand the voting process, key issues, and how to participate confidently.
Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee (VEOAC)
The Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee (VEOAC) is a collaborative space that strengthens inclusive voter engagement in San Mateo County. Convened by Thrive Alliance in partnership with the County Elections Office and San Francisco Peninsula People Power, VEOAC brings together community-based organizations and residents to inform voter outreach strategies, materials, and education efforts. Rooted in Thrive’s long-standing advocacy for equitable implementation of the Voter’s Choice Act, the committee focuses on increasing voter education, registration, and turnout, particularly among communities with historically low civic participation. VEOAC meets monthly to share election updates, analyze results, and advance practices that support accessible and representative elections.
A companion report by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation highlights regional voter engagement strategies. In San Mateo County, Thrive helps coordinate this work through the Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee(VEOAC), aligning nonprofits, funders, and the Elections Office to support trusted community-based outreach.
Election Education
Here is the election toolkit language Thrive Alliance’s Election Education program helps nonprofits and community leaders share clear, accessible, nonpartisan election information. With Thrive’s Election Education Toolkit, nonprofit leaders can train staff and volunteers to give accurate election updates at meetings, workshops, and community events.
The toolkit addresses knowledge gaps about voting and boosts education and outreach in communities with low civic participation. Thrive also partners with local nonprofits to distribute multilingual materials and engagement items to support trusted outreach.
The 2026 Primary Election Toolkit is now available in Chinese and Spanish. Explore it here.
