Environment & Sustainability
Thrive Alliance is proud to be one of the founding members of San Mateo County’s annual Climate Summit. Since 2022, this Summit has served as a vital bridge, convening frontline communities, nonprofits, government agencies, and the private sector to uplift environmental justice and climate resilience.
As part of our commitment to localized strength, Thrive has also participated in the Community Climate Equity Initiative (CCEI) Resilience Hub—a neighborhood center pilot program designed to build community power and preparedness for climate impacts. Thrive additionally serves as a member of the Bay Area Climate Adaptation Network (BayCAN), a collaborative network of local government staff and partnering organizations working to help the Bay Area respond effectively and equitably to the adverse impacts of climate change.
We are eager to grow our sustainability initiatives and welcome discussions with other nonprofits and community-based organizations on potential collaborations. Whether through regional advocacy or neighborhood-level resilience hubs, we invite you to partner with us in building a stronger, more equitable San Mateo County.
Climate Summit for San Mateo County
For the past four years, Nuestra Casa, Climate Resilient Communities, Rise South City and Thrive Alliance collaboratively planned the Climate Summit for San Mateo County with the goal of highlighting the needs and voices of underrepresented communities that are confronting the uneven impacts of climate change. The vision for the Summit is for every person in San Mateo County and beyond to breathe clean air, drink clean water, live in a healthy home, and be part of a disaster-resilient community in which their voice matters. Each year, the Climate Summit is a venue to push for the policy change, cross-sector partnerships, and power shifting necessary to achieve this vision.
After the immense success of the 2025 Climate Summit, held at Stanford Redwood City Campus, Thrive Alliance decided to take a step back from the planning committee as it became abundantly clear that the Summit had fully developed the capacity and stamina to continue on without Thrive’s planning and capacity building support. Thrive now serves as an outspoken supporter, founding member, and champion of the annual Climate Summit.
