Canopy: Development Operations Coordinator
Canopy is looking for a Development Operations Coordinator to join its development team. This key role involves working closely with the Deputy Director, who manages the organization’s philanthropic and fundraising strategies, as well as the Communications and Marketing Coordinator. The Coordinator will focus on enhancing data integrity, executing events, engaging donors, and managing grant administration, with the ultimate goal of strengthening relationships with the diverse network of supporters who make Canopy’s work possible.

Responsibilities
Event Execution and Support (35%)
Collaborate with the Leadership Team to coordinate donor and supporter events, including small appreciation gatherings, cultivation dinners, and larger fundraising events.
Develop event invitations, promotional materials, and program content to ensure engagement.
Oversee logistical aspects of events, such as venue coordination, catering, volunteer support, and event setup.
Collaborate with the Communications team to market and promote events through social media, email campaigns, and other channels.
Donor Engagement (30%)
Collaborate with the Deputy Director to develop and implement comprehensive donor engagement strategies that foster long-term relationships and inspire donor engagement.
Maintain personalized, proactive communication with current donors to deepen connection to Canopy’s impact.
Support and help execute a donor stewardship plan that ensures donors receive timely recognition and meaningful updates on their gifts' impact.
Serve as the primary point of contact for donor inquiries and requests, addressing concerns and providing information on Canopy’s programs and initiatives.
Partner with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator to create and distribute compelling donor content, including newsletters, impact reports, and social media updates.
Support the development and execution of annual and long-term individual donor strategies to achieve organizational financial goals.
Data Management (20%)
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor database/CRM (Salesforce), ensuring that donor and funder information, contribution histories, and communication preferences are accurately documented.
Prepare and analyze donor and funder reports to track giving patterns and identify opportunities for engagement and growth.
Ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations related to donor information.
Grant Administration (15%)
Research potential grant funding opportunities, focusing on foundations, corporations, and government sources that align with Canopy’s mission.
Support the writing of compelling grant proposals and reports to secure and maintain funding, ensuring timely submission and compliance with grant requirements.
Manage grants calendar tracking the progress of grant proposals, deadlines, and reporting.
Coordinate with program staff to gather the necessary data and information to support grant applications and reports.
Ensure that all grants are properly recorded in Canopy’s donor database, maintaining an accurate history of funding and outcomes.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience (or equivalent) in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record inengagement and campaigns. Strong understanding of environmental justice, equity, and inclusion. Excellent interpersonal, research, communication, and project management skills.
Experience with donor management systems (Salesforce and Google Suite experience a plus).
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment. Commitment to

Compensation and Benefits
● Annual salary: $65,000
● Health Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance is available
● Retirement: 401k, with the hope of offering employer matching contributions in the future.
● Sick leave: 12 days (96 hours) sick leave per year with a maximum accrual of 12 days per year.
● Vacation time: 12 days (96 hours) per year with a maximum accrual of 18 days per year.
Accrual rates increase after two years with Canopy.
